Limpopo mother in court for allegedly poisoning sons


A Limpopo woman accused of poisoning and killing her two young sons is appearing in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the two boys, aged eight and six, died at home and at hospital, respectively.

Police suspect the children were fed food laced with poison. The matter is under investigation.

The suspect, a 27-year-old woman believed to be the mother of the two boys, faces two charges of murder.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the two deceased are siblings from Madabani village and both are suspected to have been poisoned. Police investigation immediately commenced and led to the arrest of a 27-year-old female, alleged to be the mother of the victims. The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage. The suspect is expected to appear at the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court soon, facing two counts of murder,” Ledwaba said.
