Six suspects arrested after evading police in KZN


Six suspects who allegedly shot at police and evaded arrest last month have been apprehended in Umhlali on the north coast of Durban.

Police say the suspects were wanted for serious crimes, including murder, as well as house and business robberies.

They are believed to have been terrorising communities in Shayamoya, Nkobongo, Riet Valley and Itete.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza says the suspects were arrested during a coordinated operation.

“The suspects, who were wanted for serious crimes, were traced and cornered at Shayamoya area within the Umhlali policing precinct on 12 April 2026. 28 March 2026 shootout incident, three suspects were arrested. Police will continue to investigate to ascertain if the suspects are linked to other cases within the ILembe District Policing Precinct,” said Magwaza.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspects are connected to additional crimes in the area.
