Eastern Cape Division of the High Court Judge President Selby Mbenenge.
Parliament has confirmed it has not yet received the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) report which found Eastern Cape Judge President, Selby Mbenenge guilty of gross misconduct.
The JSC report overturned an earlier report by the Judicial Conduct Tribunal, which had found Mbenenge to have committed misconduct following allegations of sexual harassment by a member of staff, Andiswa Mengo.
A gross misconduct finding paves the way for impeachment proceedings against Mbenenge, who has been on special leave since 2024.
The JSC has confirmed in its statement that it met early last month to consider the decision of the Judicial Conduct Tribunal into the complaints made by Mengo against Mbenenge.
It says after the presentation made to it by all parties involved, it then resolved to overturn the findings of the tribunal by finding Mbenenge guilty of gross misconduct.
It says it decided that its report will be submitted to both President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Speaker of the National Assemly Thoko Didiza for further proceedings against Mbenenge.
But Spokesperson to Parliament Moloto Mothapo says no report from the JSC has been received yet.
