Shebe Maburna’s bail application ruling to be made on Thursday

The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court has adjourned musician Lehlogonolo “Shebe Maburna” Chauke’s third bail application to Thursday for a ruling.

The state is opposing bail.

Shebe Maburna wants to be granted bail so that he can seek medical attention following his leg fracture in a car crash two years ago.

He is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi has adjourned the matter to prepare his ruling.

Netshiozwi says, “Applicant, it’s is a procedure that after the defence counsel and the state has completed the address in this matter, the court must prepare the judgment, with judgment it will then read into the completion of this application, for that purpose this case has to be postponed to a further date, and we have agreed that this case has to be postponed to the 30 of April 2026”

The accused musician’s lawyer, Adv Michael Khumalo, has told the court that a medical assessment of his client should be done in the presence of the state and the defence lawyer.

Khumalo says, “We said the applicant makes himself available to be taken to confirm on a scan. We ask that when you do that, we also want to assure ourselves that things are done correctly, that’s why we ask to be present when the process proceeds. The state did not take the applicant for a confirmation scan in our presence or absence.”
