Sebola contradicts SAPS officials testimony on Aeroton drug bust

Hawks Lieutenant-Colonel Nkoana Sebola has testified before the Madlanga Commission that he is usually called to crime scenes involving drug busts.

Sebola’s testimony follows that of Warrant Officers Marumo Magane and Steve Phakula.

They were among the first officers to arrive at the Aeroton scene, where a 715-kilogram cocaine consignment was seized.

Both officers previously testified that they possessed the necessary crime scene management skills to process the drug bust, despite evidence presented before the commission suggesting otherwise.

Sebola told the commission that his team specialises in processing drug-related crime scenes.

“Once they say drugs are involved, we are the team that can deal [process the scene]. When they say, when you arrive at the scene, you suspect something, call the necessary people. We are, in fact, we are amongst the necessary people. We are the ones who can say, yes, indeed, we can confirm these are the suspected drugs. Then we can also confirm we are suspecting it to be this type of a drug,” adds Sebola.
