Meanwhile, there have been some concerns from African countries in attendance about the recent anti-illegal immigrant marches in Durban.

Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille says they have noted the concerns, vowing that the event will be safe and successful for all in attendance.

“Yes, we did receive inquiries from some of the African ministers. They wanted to have a guarantee that they will be safe, and of course, through our DIRCO department and the statements that the President made on Freedom Day, we are able to not give them the guarantee but to ensure, you know, that we look after their safety. And we’ve responded to all of them, and all of them are still coming. They can see it could be a temporary thing, you know, might blow over.”
