President Cyril Ramaphosa says he will not make public his reasons for dismissing Sisisi Tolashe as the minister of Social Development.
Yesterday, the presidency released a statement that he had sacked Tolashe and that Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga, will act in the portfolio.

Tolashe has come under fire recently for allegedly misleading Parliament about vehicles she received from the Chinese embassy on behalf of the ANC Women’s League, as well as revelations about alleged irregular appointments and contract extensions in her department.
Answering oral questions in the House, Ramaphosa was asked if the public could be apprised of how he reached his decision.
“The president is never required to disclose reasons why they appoint or disappoint, in other words, remove any member of the executive. And I intend to stick to that convention and practice.”
