The Durban regional court has heard that the house of anti-immigration march organiser, Ngizwe Mchunu, was burnt down over the weekend.
He was supposed to testify in the 2021 unrest-related trial of Bonginkosi Khanyile on Monday.
Khanyile’s lawyer has told the court that Mchunu is not available to testify due to the incident over the weekend.
No further details are available at this stage.
Khanyile is facing charges of incitement to commit violence and the contravention of COVID-19 regulations about gatherings.
The trial is expected to continue on Tuesday.
