File: African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula
African National Congress Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula, has filed an application with the Eastern Cape High Court to rescind the court’s decision, which halted the party’s provincial conference in March.
A group of disgruntled ANC members approached the court to stop the provincial conference, citing alleged irregularities and unresolved internal disputes.
The court subsequently ruled in favour of the application.
In the papers filed to the court, Mbalula claims that the application made by the group was fraudulent, further stating that the said members did not exhaust internal ANC processes.
A Provincial Task Team has recently been appointed in the province, as the term of the Provincial Executive Committee has expired.
