Water tanker during water outage
Joburg Water says it has deployed both roving and stationary water tankers to areas affected by the ongoing water infrastructure maintenance programme across greater Johannesburg.
Affected areas include Roodepoort, Soweto and Sandton.
The maintenance work started Friday and is expected to continue until Tuesday.
Joburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala says priority is given to schools, hospitals and informal settlements.
She urged residents to report any water-related challenges to the utility.
“Community members can either contact their councillors; they can also call Johannesburg Water or reach us through our social media platforms. We take complaints very seriously and are against any misconduct. We will investigate that,” says Shabalala.
Some residents of the City of Tshwane say they are glad the maintenance work on bulk infrastructure will improve water quality.
Craig Modisane is from Nelmapius, east of Pretoria, “It had not been our expectation as community members, so we are happy because they are going to clean the water so that members of the community can get clean water that will provide them with health, hygiene comes first. That’s what we are looking for,” says Modisane.
