The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and uMkhonto Wesizwe Party (MKP) have expressed their dissatisfaction with the cancellation of a Higher Education and Training portfolio committee meeting, that was scheduled for Tuesday. The meeting was set to get a briefing from Minister Buti Manamela on his decision to place National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) under administration.
In a statement the MKP calls for the immediate removal of Manamela as the Minister of Higher Education and Training accusing him of evading accountability.

EFF MP, Sihle Lonzi, says the meeting was cancelled because the minister had not submitted a presentation to the committee. But, that the chairperson did so without any consultation with other members on the committee.
“You can not cancel a meeting that was approved in formal sitting of parliament, worse you do not communicate. If a minister defies parliament, members must sit and reconsider based on new circumstances. Chair can’t send us a WhatsApp, he must go through proper channels, we are not friends, we are working here.”
