Du Toitskloof Pass in WC reopened from the Worcester side only

Western Cape Traffic Services say the Du Toitskloof Pass has been reopened from the Worcester side only.

This after authorities reopened the N1 southbound from Worcester to Paarl earlier Wednesday. Both roadways were closed to traffic due to damages caused by destructive rainfall, resulting in a backing-up of traffic outside Worcester.

Provincial Traffic Chief, Maxine Bezuidenhout says no vehicles transporting hazardous goods will be allowed through Huguenot tunnel, but they are permitted to access the N1 via Du Toitskloof Pass.

Bezuidenhout says a stop/go system remains in place at the Rawsonville weighbridge and motorists should prepare for heavy delays of up to 90 minutes.

The N1 northbound from Paarl to Worcester remains closed.

Heavy rains in the province have caused extensive damage.
