Dhlamini returns to the Madlanga Commission

Suspended deputy police chief at the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD), Umashi Dhlamini, is expected to return to the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria on Friday,

On Thursday, Major Lebogang Phiri from the Roads Policing division at the TMPD testified that although he knows taxi tycoon Joe Sibanyoni from television, he had never spoken to him.

Phiri further claimed that he was unaware of any business Sibanyoni has with the City of Tshwane, adding that he has never discussed him with Tshwane Deputy Mayor Eugene Modise.

“Because I don’t see how Joe Sibanyoni can be linked to me. But to Commissioner Baloi, I don’t know what business Joe Sibanyoni has with the city. All I know through social media, if you type Joe Ferrari Sibanyoni, it will tell you that that is a taxi boss. So, I don’t know his interest in the city. But I don’t know him. I can’t even point him.”
