Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit member Colonel Gavin Jacob testifying before the Madlanga Commission
Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit member Colonel Gavin Jacob is expected to continue to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Thursday.
Jacob began his testimony on Wednesday. He provided details about the drug interception at the Isipingo depot, where 541 kilograms of cocaine were discovered.
He was one of the first Hawks officers on the scene, alongside members of crime intelligence.
The missing 541 kilogram cocaine consignment, which was stolen from the Hawks’ premises in Port Shepstone, remains the focus of the Madlanga Commission’s investigation.
Colonel Gavin Jacob has denied any involvement in the disappearance of the cocaine, which had an estimated street value of R200 million.
Jacob testified that he passed a polygraph test, which he believes effectively exonerated him from any involvement in the cocaine theft.
