Meyiwa witness unaware of Ntanzi firearms statement

Senzo Meyiwa murder trial witness, Colonel Bhutomncane Khumalo, says he is unaware of a witness statement alleging that accused number two, Bongani Ntanzi, supplied firearms to hitmen.

Khumalo, who has been called by the defence, has been testifying at the High Court in Pretoria on a statement said to be made by the late Simphiwe Buthelezi.

In the statement, Buthelezi allegedly revealed that Ntanzi supplied guns and ammunition to hitmen across the country.

This in light of a KwaNongoma murder case that Khumalo had said to be investigating and several other murder cases the state alleges Ntanzi could be linked to.

State Prosecutor Ronnie Sibanda read out Buthelezi’s statement, “With firearms that Qiniselani used in killing people, as supplied to him by a well-known gun supplier by the name of Bongani Mafika Ntanzi, who also comes from Nongom area. What will be your comment?”

Khumalo responded, “So, Qiniselani was arrested, when, 2018. So, this is in 2020. So, if Mogane informed me or approached me, I was a Captain and asked if I was aware that there’s a possibility that this firearm was sourced from accused number two Ntanzi, I was going to make a follow up but until today this came to my attention now”.
