South Africa are through to the final of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia.

The Young Proteas beat Australia by five wickets in their semi-final in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

Australia who won the toss were restricted to a modest 105 for eight in their 20 overs.

Left-arm spinner Ashleigh van Wyk was the pick of the bowlers. She took four for 17 in three overs.

In reply, opening batter Jemma Botha scored a brisk 37 off 24 deliveries to get the South Africans off to the ideal start.

Her innings was followed by a 38-run fourth-wicket partnership between captain Kayla Reyneke and Karabo Meso, taking South Africa closer to the 106 required for victory.

SA eventually scored the winning runs off the first ball of the 19th over. They will play the winner of the second semi-final between India and England in Sunday’s final.
