Coach during a press conference
Eastern Cape outfit Chippa United and coach Kwanele Kopo have parted ways but there’s nothing sinister about him stepping down.
Kopo’s contract with Chippa comes to an end at midnight on Tuesday.
He joined the club on a one-year contract in January this year and played a pivotal role in the team’s journey.
Despite being offered a contract renewal six months ago, Kopo opted not to extend his tenure with the club, citing a desire to return to Johannesburg to focus on his family and personal priorities.
He will be replaced by Thabo September while Mabhuti Khanyeza has been appointed as the new assistant coach.
Chippa are currently ninth on the Betway Premiership log, with four wins and five defeats in 11 matches.
They were beaten one-nil by Kaizer Chiefs in their last match in Durban on Sunday.
