Danny Jordaan, two co-accused back in court

The case of South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan and two others continues in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court at Palm Ridge this morning.

They are charged with several counts of theft and fraud for allegedly defrauding SAFA of about R1.3 million.

The presiding officer postponed the matter last week and will hear two applications, one by the defence and another by the prosecution today.

The defence wants the matter to be scrapped off the role due to another pending matter, while the prosecution argues there’s a conflict of interest with advocate Norman Arendse representing Jordaan and the association’s CEO, Gronie Hluyo.

Arendse has ties with SAFA and the prosecution wants him to recuse himself.
