Cold front expected in parts of SA

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for a sharp change in weather conditions.

It has forecast extreme cold, rain and strong winds for some parts of the country this week.

The weather conditions will deteriorate from Wednesday, when snowfall is expected in parts of the Western and Northern Cape.

Authorities have urged residents to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.

SAWS Forecaster Celeste Fourie says, “It will move into the Eastern Cape side by Tuesday. Together with this cold front, we are expecting some isolated showers and rain to start on the southwestern and southern coastline early Tuesday morning, and then persisting up until Wednesday afternoon on the eastern coast side, and then approaching Thursday. We are also expecting some isolated thunderstorm development over the central parts of the country.”
