Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matala and co-accused appear in court, May 13, 2026
The case against Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala in the R360-million Medicare 24 Tshwane District tender has been postponed to June 26.
Matlala is tied with 16 co-accused in the matter. They face charges of fraud, corruption and money laundering.
The charges are linked to the tender that allegedly did not follow proper procurement processes, and in which senior SAPS officials were allegedly bribed.
The contract was later cancelled due to the irregularities.
Suspended SAPS Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, who is accused number 17 in the matter, is charged with contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.
The matter was postponed for further investigation and disclosure of the docket.
The bail conditions for Matlala’s co-accused were extended while he was remanded in custody for attempted murder charges in another matter.
