Heavy rain.
The Eastern Cape Department of Education has extended school closures in parts of the province affected by bad weather conditions to Friday.
This follows a recent South African Weather Services (SAWS) report indicating that the rain will continue until Friday evening.

The weather warning has since been extended to the other parts of the province.
Provincial Education spokesperson Malibongwe Mtima says, “The initially predicted areas to be most affected by damaging waves include the Sundays River Valley, Kou-Kamma, Kouga and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality, but have since increased to include the Buffalo City education district. James Town, Elundini, Senqu and Walter Sisulu municipalities have been affected by disruptive snow. Flagged high risk areas have been warned of this severe weather conditions to prioritise safety. We urge the school principals of affected districts to continue communicating with parents all the decisions.
