Moqhaka Local Municipality building in the Free State.
Newly elected Moqhaka Local Municipality executive mayor in the Free State, Tau Ramasimong, has promised to prioritise service delivery, housing, water infrastructure and job creation.
Speaking during his acceptance speech in Kroonstad, Ramasimong admitted the municipality faces major challenges.
He also pledged to tackle corruption, improve governance and accelerate housing projects across the municipality.
Ramasimong says municipalities must become drivers of economic growth and create opportunities for young people.
He says communities are demanding action and accountable leadership.
“We will therefore prioritise vocal economic development, support small businesses, transit EPWP programs, and promote skills development, and create partnerships with investors and the private sector to stimulate job creation, alluded by the president. But honourable speaker, Moqhaka must become investment friendly again. We will work closely with the local businesses, farmers, entrepreneurs and industry leaders, to rebuild investor confidence and unlock economic growth.”
