Ditsobotla residents decry worsening service delivery

Residents in the Lichtenburg based Ditsobotla Local Municipality in the North West say the national government intervention at the municipality is not yielding any positive results.

They say the delivery of services has worsened since the intervention eight months ago.

Residents are now demanding the immediate removal of the administrator and national cabinet representative (NCR), Kopung Ralikontsane, who was deployed in September last year to stabilise finances and governance at the municipality.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile is conducting an oversight visit at the municipality.

Community leader Johanna Tlotleng says residents are sick and tired of government.

“NCR is taking us for granted. Our government is taking us for granted. I think Ditsobotla is the most undermined place in the North West because we’ve had issues from long time ago and we still have issues eight months after the NCR was introduced. I don’t know if the deputy president is here to campaign for the ANC, I don’t know. But they must know we are sick and tired of this leadership that does not do anything for the community. Enough is enough, NCR you must leave Ditsobotla.”
