Witness G will testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Monday.
The crime intelligence officer, who is believed to handle informers, will appear remotely and off-camera but be audible to the public.
Advocate Matthew Chaskalson will lead Witness G’s evidence.
The commission said in a statement that the decision was made to protect the witness’s identity and that parts of the witness’s testimony will be held fully in camera, meaning no part of that testimony will be public.
The commission is probing alleged criminality, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.
