A security guard has been shot dead during an armed robbery at the Tweefontein chrome mine outside Burgersfort in Limpopo.
Police say when another guard went to investigate the sound of gunshots, he was accosted and robbed of his firearm on Friday.
Eight suspects fled with the firearms from the two security guards.
Police say the suspects used a hole they cut in the fence to gain access to the mine. Investigations are under way.
