Cloudy and cold conditions are expected across Gauteng, with showers and thunderstorms possible in most areas. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe storms, with heavy downpours likely over parts of Johannesburg and surrounding western areas, raising the risk of localised flooding.
Cool conditions will continue into the weekend, with intermittent rain on Saturday and windy, colder weather expected on Sunday in parts of the province.
“If you will be over the southwestern parts of Gauteng, expect a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, including the western parts of Johannesburg. A yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the South African Weather Service. These conditions are expected to result in heavy downpours that may lead to localised flooding over most western areas of Johannesburg and extending into other parts of the province, including areas such as Soweto,” says Forecaster, Lehlohonolo Thabela.
