Julius Mkhwanazi, Kagiso Lerutla bail application judgment expected

The Boksburg Magistrate’s Court will on Friday morning rule on the bail application of suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department deputy chief, Julius Mkhwanazi and City of Ekurhuleni manager, Kagiso Lerutla.

They were arrested at the weekend on charges of corruption, fraud and defeating the ends of justice.

Despite the accused submitting that they won’t interfere with the investigation, state prosecutor Nceba Mtelwa is adamant that if released on bail, they would intimidate witnesses.

Mtelwa says, “It is also revealed that all those witnesses were about to blow the whistle on corruption and murder at the municipality. It is public knowledge that the famous deceased Witness D told the country that accused one was at the murder scene at 2am where he ordered the disposal of the body into the dam.”
