1 minute

South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan and two co-accused are appearing at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, east of Johannesburg, after being arrested this morning.

This follows an intensive investigation by the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit into allegations of fraud and theft amounting to R1.3 million.

It’s alleged that between 2014 and 2018, Jordaan used SAFA’s resources for his personal gain, including hiring a private security company for his personal protection and a Public Relations company without authorisation from the Board.

The unit, charged with probing the allegations, executed search and seizure warrants at the SAFA headquarters in March 2024 this year.

An assortment of electronic gadgets and files were seized for further investigation, leading to the arrests.

Jordaan and his co-accused are expected to appear in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s court later today.
