Tshwane Metro Police deputy commissioner placed on suspension

Tshwane Metro Police Deputy Commissioner, Umashi Dhlamini has been suspended amid serious allegations levelled against him, relating to tender irregularities, at the Madlanga Commission.

In a statement by the Tshwane Metro Police Department Communication Unit, it’s indicated that Dhlamini has requested to be placed on suspension with immediate effect.

“TMPD Commissioner Yolande Faro has considered Dhlamini’s request and duly approved it,” the statement says.

The statement adds that the suspension is part of a standard risk-management measure to safeguard the integrity of the investigative process and does not constitute a disciplinary sanction or imply any finding of guilt.
