Deputy National Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili testifies before Parliament’s Ad Hoc in Cape Town on March 3, 2026.
Deputy National Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili says she became aware of the directive given by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who is on special leave, through an email.
Mosikili says this was after the completion of the festive season police operations in December 2024.
She is testifying before the Ad Hoc Committee probing allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.
Mosikili says she had to attend to media queries about the minister’s directive as she was acting National Police Commissioner at the time.
She says, “Advocate, I only became aware of the email on the second of January when I was back in the office, and I must indicate here that upon the investigation on the second, and the other thing that caught my attention to the directive was the media enquiry that was forwarded to me by the national spokesperson. I think at the time, all media houses, News24 already published the directives of the disbandment of the PKTT (Political Killings Task Team).”
