Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination drive in Fisantekraal, Cape Town.
The Garden Route District Municipality has confirmed that four farms have now tested positive for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).
Municipality Spokesperson Herman Pieters says all the farms are located in the Mosel Bay area.
Two weeks ago, the index farm was identified in Hartenbos.
State veterinarian Dr. Leana Janse van Rensburg says vaccination efforts are ongoing.
A quarantine zone has been established and control points are in place while animal movement is being regulated through a permit system.
The municipality added that from the 30 000 doses of FMD vaccines that the province will receive from Argentina this week, 10 000 doses will be allocated to the Garden Route.
