67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day movement hosts a knitting drive
The 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day movement say knitting is more than just a hobby but a tool for connection and care. The group is hosting a blanket knitting drive at Steyn City, north of Johannesburg, bringing communities together through creativity and compassion.

The initiative forms part of World Creativity and Innovation Day, observed on April 21, which highlights the role of creativity in human development. Founder Caroline Steyn says each blanket carries love, healing and unity, as volunteers knit and crochet in the true spirit of ubuntu.
“Well, if you see the creativity in these blankets, you’ll see how much love was poured into the process of making them. That love is going to be transferred to the person who will be receiving it. You can feel in each and every stitch that there was thought and kindness and it was just so wonderful to see communities coming together in the spirit of Ubuntu.”
