Mazibuko remembered as guiding force by Ladysmith Black Mambazo members

Members of the iconic Ladysmith Black Mambazo have described the late Albert Mazibuko as a respectful man and a figure to whom they all looked up to.

Sibongiseni Shabalala is among friends and family who are bidding Mazibuko farewell at his funeral service at Estcourt in KwaZulu-Natal.

“Baba Mazibuko was a very respectful man. We learnt everything from him. He was dedicated and showed all of us love. He was a very important member of the group and had been with amaMbazo for 55 years.”

Shabalala adds that Mazibuko was the one who used to take care of the group’s uniforms. He recalls with fondness how Mazibuko would be preoccupied with ensuring that the group performs with clean shoes.

“He’s the one who used to wash our uniforms, clean our shoes and just do everything and if you sometimes attempt to clean the shoes yourself, he will come back and clean them again.”
