Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni
Gauteng Police Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni has made an impassioned plea to the province’s residents to support law enforcement in its fight against crime. This after some angry residents of Saulsville in Tshwane staged a walk out during a tense engagement between them and Gauteng police management on Saturday.
Mthombeni says a lack of collaboration between police and the public is hampering police efforts to fight crime.
“I know the community is dissatisfied but I have to emphasise that we are married and unfortunately, we cannot divorce and just walk away from each other because we all have a common enemy which is crime. If you are a leader, you listen to other people and see how we can all come up with solutions to our problems.”
