Three people will appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Thursday on alleged fraud, corruption, theft, and money laundering charges.
Hawks spokesperson Lethunya Mmuroa says the suspects were arrested on Wednesday in connection with fraudulent Unemployment Insurance Fund claims.
The claims were submitted to the Labour Department in Tzaneen between January and May 2025.
Mmuroa says one of the suspects, who is an official at the department, allegedly colluded with a company to submit the claims in exchange for gratification.
The fraud resulted in the department losing R825 000.
