Manqoba Mngqithi believes South Africa is capable of winning AFCON

Golden Arrows coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, believes South Africa is capable of winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament which starts in Morocco on Sunday.

Bafana Bafana finished third to win the bronze medal in the last edition of the tournament in Ivory Coast early last year.

They qualified for their first World Cup since 2002, and they’ll attend back-to-back AFCON tournaments for the first time since 2006 and 2008.

The Arrows coach believes the team has what it takes to win the tournament this time, with the consistency the coach has shown in selection

“We must always root for this team; it has done so well over the past few years, and they have been playing good football. I must add and congratulate Coach Hugo Broos for taking the team there for the second time in a row, and that means something.”

Bafana will play their final warm-up match against Ghana at the Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday.

They will depart for Morocco on Wednesday and will kick off their AFCON campaign against Angola on the 22nd of December 2025 Marrakesh.
