Security systems in place for Carling Black Label final: Ramathuba

The Limpopo government is optimistic that the province will continue to host more major sporting events. This comes as the capital city Polokwane is set to host the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup final between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

The last time the province hosted a cup final was in 2016.

Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba says they have put security systems to manage an anticipated big crowd.

Ramathuba says, “ We even had to meet regularly to make sure that we don’t make a mistake in terms of security. Our tickets were sold within two hours. What does that mean? It means we’ve got our own people who are soccer-loving people here in the province who always want to buy the tickets on the last day, and the tickets are now sold out. So we need to put up a security system that is tight to make sure that it becomes an easy thing for us.”

Limpopo Police Spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba has issued a stern warning to those who sell tickets outside the stadium at inflated prices.

Mashaba says, “I must also indicate that we will be on high alert to monitor any unlawful activities… We don’t want to see anyone near our stadium trying to solicit or to buy tickets because the tickets are sold. The selling of tickets and buying of tickets thereof from ticket peddlers is illegal.”
