Madlanga Commission’s first report expected on 17 December

The first report from the Madlanga Commission is expected to be released by 17 December 2025.

This was revealed by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s counsel Adv. Nyoko Muvangu at the Pretoria High Court sitting in the Palace of Justice.

Adv. Muvangu was arguing for President Ramaphosa in the uMkhonto weSizwe (MKP) and former President Jacob Zuma matter.

The MKP and Zuma challenged President Ramaphosa’s decisions to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on leave of absence, the appointment of Firoz Cachalia and establishment of the Madlanga Commission.

Adv. Mavangu elaborates, “He’s anticipating a report on the 17th of December. This is three months after it commenced. The final report is anticipated is set out in the terms of the 17 March next year. There is nothing to the contrary. And there is nothing that the court could consider to find anything otherwise.”

Judgment in the matter has been reserved.
