Newly appointed DA ministers to be sworn in

Two DA Members of Parliament will be sworn in as minister and deputy minister in Pretoria on Monday morning.

Last week, President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed DA spokesperson Willie Aucamp as the new Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister.

Aucamp has replaced Doctor Dion George.

The DA’s Alexandra Lilian Amelia Abrahams is the Trade Industry and Competition Deputy Minister, replacing Andrew Whitefield, who was removed in June this year.

After months of speculation, the DA has two of its MPs confirmed as minister and a deputy minister.

Whitfield was removed for undertaking an international trip without Ramaphosa’s permission.

George is said to have been removed for underperformance.

Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says that Ramaphosa will witness the swearing-in to be presided over by the judge at the Union Buildings.
