ANC SG Fikile Mbalula addressed members of the media
Government needs to do better at communicating important developments such as the unexpected arrival of a group of Palestinians in the country on Thursday and preparations for the hosting of the G20 summit.
This is according to ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, who was in Germiston, east of Johannesburg, where the party’s National Executive Committee is meeting over the next three days.
Mbalula says that there should be more information to citizens on the part of government in terms of the country hosting such an important global event as the G20
“You want government to explain that there is a group of people, 130, arriving at OR Tambo, the Palestinians and all of that. How were they processed? What happened? You need a political leader of this government to have voted. Even in the GNU, where is Schreiber? Explaining what are the laws that have been followed to accept the Palestinians in this country. Where is the Minister of Home Affairs? To explain that. Should they be against any laws that inform the acceptance of the Palestinians in this country and all of that, we will rise as the ANC, because we expect that the Palestinians must be granted political asylum as a matter of need.”
