The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) has raised concerns about escalating unemployment in the country.
The party’s youth league Treasurer General Zwelo Masilela delivered their message of support at the Mpumalanga ANC Women’s League conference in Middelburg yesterday.
Masilela also highlighted nepotism as one of the serious problems that need to be tackled.
Masilela says it becoming difficult to employ a comrade of the ANC who is qualified for a position than it is easy to employ people who are against our revolution and our opposition.
“These women here are seated with unemployed children and we are saying, we are your children as the Youth League. Because in our meetings of the Youth League, we are seated with unemployed people. You are seated here with unemployed children, who is us. The people who should employ us are ashamed of employing us. They rather employ their girlfriends, boyfriends and relatives,” says Masilela.
