Chief of Staff in the Police Ministry, Cedrick Nkabinde
The Chief of Staff in the Police Ministry Cedrick Nkabinde says he was given the number of controversial North West businessman, Brown Mogotsi, by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who is currently on special leave.
Nkabinde appeared before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee, which is investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system made by KwaZulu-Natal top cop Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi in July.
During his testimony, Mkhwanazi told the committee that he learned from Nkabinde that Mogotsi and Mchunu were close associates.
Nkabinde told the evidence leader Advocate Norman Arendse SC that, in his position as chief of staff, he facilitated two meetings between Mogotsi and Mchunu.
“Yes, I had to facilitate meetings just like for any other guest. And you know of two meetings? Yes, one of which did not materialise.”
