Ekurhuleni’s Deputy Metro Police Chief, Julius Mkhwanazi.
The Madlanga Commission in Pretoria has heard how Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Police Chief Julius Mkhwanazi was called to assist in cleaning a murder scene in Brakpan, Ekurhuleni.
This is according to retired EMPD Deputy Chief Police Officer Revo Spies’ testimony.
The said incident is said to have taken place in April 2022 by members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department, who are believed to be under Brigadier Mkhwanazi’s authority.
Spies further testified that the body of the person who was killed was dumped at a Dam in Nigel.
“And from the scene, they called Brigadier Mkwanazi after it took place and Brigadier Mkwanazi arrived on the scene in a white Golf and he then went [and] proceeded to direct him how to clean the scene and they placed the body of the victim on this civilian person’s bakkie. They instructed him to go dump the body, which he then duly did and then when it came out and this person who did it, he turned [into a] state witness,” explains Spies.
The commission has adjourned and Spies will continue his testimony tomorrow.
