The Sharks registered their first win of the United Rugby Championship (URC) season, after beating Welsh team Scarletts 29-19 at Kingspark stadium in Durban, Saturday afternoon.
They have now moved to the 12th position for the time being with eight points in five matches.
The Durban-based side will meet Connacht from Ireland away in their next fixture.
Scarletts remained bottom of the log without a win in four matches.
Meanwhile, the Lions have caused one of the biggest upsets of the United Rugby Championship so far this season, beating Irish side, Ulster, at Ellis Park.
The Lions came into the match against the unbeaten Ulster with just one win from four matches. And although they trailed 17-19 at halftime, they outscored the Irish side by seven tries to five for a bonus point 49-31 victory.
It moves the Lions up four places to seventh on the log, just behind the Bulls who lost to the Warriors in Glagow on Friday night.
