Motorists urged to be patient ahead of Seshego Marathon on Sunday


There will be some road closures in Polokwane, Limpopo, due to a highly anticipated road race. Thousands of runners will participate in the Seshego Ultra-Marathon, running either 50 kilometers or 21.1 kilometers.

The half-marathon features the SAPS national championships. The affected roads are R71 from Mankweng to Polokwane and the Nelson Mandela Drive between Seshego and Polokwane.

Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba is calling on motorists to exercise patience.

“In terms of road closureS, the Nelson Mandela drive will be closed from Polokwane town until 12 o’clock in the afternoon along R71 the left from Boyne will be closed until ten o’clock in the morning motorists are urged to use alternative routes and be patient when they approach affected areas the South African Police supported by traffic officials and race marshals will be deployed along the marathon routes to manage traffic flow to protect athletes and assist the general public.”
