American tennis player, Amanda Anisimova
American Amanda Anisimova staged a remarkable comeback to advance to a second consecutive Grand Slam final.
The 24-year-old, who failed to get onto the scoreboard in a nightmare Wimbledon final in July, defeated 4-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka of Japan in their semifinal at the US Open in New York.
Anisimova, seeded 8th, recorded a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 victory and will meet defending champion and world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, in the championship decider.
The Belarusian beat American fourth seed, Jessica Pegula, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, and will go into Saturday’s final, eyeing a 4th Grand Slam title and a 2nd at Flushing Meadows.
