Proteas post highest ODI innings at Cazalys Stadium in Australia


Three half centuries by South Africa’s top order allowed the Proteas to post the highest ever innings total in an One Day International (ODI) at the Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, Australia.

The Proteas, who were sent into bat by Australia on the first of three ODIs, scored 296 for the loss of eight wickets in their 50 overs.

Opening batter Aiden Markram, who had lean spell in the T20 International series, top scored with 82 off 81 deliveries.

The other half centuries were scored by Captain Temba Bavuma and Matthew Breetzke.

Off-spinner Travis Head took four wickets for 57 in nine overs and was Australia’s most successful bowler.
