Northern Cape Police are investigating two cases of murder and one case of attempted murder following a shooting incident at a tavern in Jan Kempdorp on Saturday night.
It is alleged that the suspect saw his girlfriend talking to another man and fired two shots at them. The man and a 21-year-old bystander were fatally wounded.
Police Spokesperson Cherelle Ehlers says another patron who tried to stop the suspect was shot and is now in a critical condition in hospital.
“The 36-year-old victim is receiving medical treatment. The suspect subsequently fled the scene, and police have launched a manhunt. Following up on information, the 38-year-old suspect was arrested on Sunday, 17 August 2025 at approximately 11:00 in Masakeng. Northern Cape Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit will continue with the investigation.”
