Netball South Africa (NSA) President Cecilia Molokwane on a visit to Rantailane Secondary School in North West on March 7, 2024.
Sports scientist and Golden Fireballs netball Team Coach Dr. Elsje Jordan says she hopes Netball South Africa’s (NSA) President Cecilia Molokwane’s suspension issue will get resolved soon.
Molokwane was suspended in April after she was allegedly accused of removing people she felt will not back her for a third term.
Speaking during a netball coaching session in Tzaneen, Limpopo, Jordan says, “She has done a great work for netball Cecilia and she has been a true ambassador for the sport and hopefully they can resolve it quickly.”
She also says the interest in netball has remained high since the country hosted the world cup two years ago.
Jordan says, “It is really important that we empower the coaches, that they take the knowledge back and that the talent that they work with can be developed so that we can develop quality high performance players and I think since 2023 when the world cup was here in South Africa, there is a high interest in netball and that is very exciting obviously.”
One of the 100 netball coaches who attended the session, Yvette Lee says, “I have learnt a lot, not only as a coach but also in my personal level. It is very important for children to start at the grassroots level to create a love for netball and also to set foundation for the future.”
