The Banyana Banyana team.
Defending Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions, South Africa, were in fine form in the first match of their title defence.
Banyana Banyana beat Ghana 2-0 in their opening Group C match in Oujda in Morocco.
Both goals were scored in the first half with midfielder, Linda Motlhalo and striker Jermaine Seoposenwe finding the back of the net.
It was a positive start to the Wafcon tournament for Desiree Ellis’ team who had the lion’s share of possession, but fewer shots on target.
Ghana won three of the previous five matches played between these two sides, while two were draws. Banyana’s next match is on Friday evening against Tanzania at the same venue.
